Answers to FAQs

What is the cost for the program?

Horizons is a scholarship program valued at $3,200 per student. There is no cost to apply.

Where is the program held?

The program takes place on the campus of the Dedham Country Day School in Dedham, MA.

Do you provide transportation?

Yes. School buses pick up children at a designated bus stop near their homes and deliver them to Dedham Country Day School. Buses leave DCD at 3:00 p.m. There is no transportation for the extended day program.

What is the attendance policy?

We have a very firm no vacation policy, and children are expected to be here every day for the full six weeks. If you take your child on vacation during the program and fail to notify us, or if he/she has numerous unexcused absences, he/she will not be invited to return the following summer.

Can my student still apply if they are older?

Horizons has limited space and priority is given to students who have attended in previous summers. Each year there are typically a few open spaces that Horizons begins to recruit for in the spring. We have very few spots open in grades 1-6 and we usually have a waiting list each summer.

My student has been with Horizons for the past few years, but we are moving out of Boston/Dedham. Can they still apply to re-enroll?

Yes. As long as the student can commit to getting to Horizons each day during the summer, the 10-year commitment follows the student regardless of where they live or move.

My student is returning this year, but I am having trouble re-enrolling them. What can I do?
